Those are the rules
Sean Wilentz in Salon whines that if only the Democratic primary rules were different, Hillary would be winning. Boo hoo. If only there were no superdelegates, Hillary would have been forced to concede a month ago. Those are the rules. They give each candidate advantages in some areas, and they're both going to fight to maintain those advantages. But if Clinton didn't like those rules, she should have contested them last year. She can't lose all the caucuses and then complain caucuses aren't democratic. She can't agree not to count Michigan or Florida and then demand, after winning unfairly, that they should count.
I'll apply the same standard and say that the superdelegates, per the rules, could overturn the delegate and popular vote majority in favor of Obama and nominate Clinton. That would not be against the rules. It would just be against the whole ethos of the party.
